"It's the first time Spence and his team have managed to fit an electronic device (complete with power source) into the eye. Spence's right eye was damaged in a childhood accident, so he's been using a prosthetic replacement for years. He wants to create a prosthetic eye with a wireless video camera in order to film his experiences." – Alan Cheslow
Last year I read a Gartner report which predicted that human augmentation will evolve over the next 10 years to the point where medical techniques will be used not just to restore physical deficiencies, but to enhance healthy people beyond “normal”. Since then I've noticed that we're getting closer and closer to seeing this happen. – Alan Cheslow
"the PS3 got the most use out of their console — an average of 10.6 percent of the time for the duration of the poll. The Xbox 360 followed directly behind that with 10.2 percent, while Wii owners gamed a sad 6.8 percent of the time. The Wii also came in last place in terms of total days used during the poll, with an average of 5 days (PS3 and Xbox 360 users averaged 6.8 and 7.1, respectively)." – Alan Cheslow
"In February 2003, Notarbartolo was arrested for heading a ring of Italian thieves. They were accused of breaking into a vault two floors beneath the Antwerp Diamond Center and making off with at least $100 million worth of loose diamonds, gold, jewelry, and other spoils. The vault was thought to be impenetrable. It was protected by 10 layers of security, including infrared heat detectors, Doppler radar, a magnetic field, a seismic sensor, and a lock with 100 million possible combinations. The robbery was called the heist of the century, and even now the police can't explain exactly how it was done." – Alan Cheslow
Yeah, friends of mine told me about this during lunch today. Uber awesome and it was all apparently part of a bigger insurance scam. Will definitely make for a good movie. – Alex Scoble
