Gadgets harvest renewable energy

Wireless carriers and other groups have already begun testing technology that could eliminate reliance on batteries by using alternative methods such as motion and the environment to harness less expensive energy. An experimental project from Orange enables people to recharge phones and MP3 players by walking in rain boots equipped with thermoelectric soles, while Nokia last week released a device that recharges phones while cycling.
